Engine Mount Failure: Symptoms, Diagnosis and Replacement Intervals for German Cars
Engine mounts are unglamorous, inexpensive parts that cause expensive-sounding symptoms. A failed mount can mimic transmission failure, driveline clunks and even brake problems. What engine mounts actually do
Beyond holding the engine in place, modern mounts control vibration. Replacement intervals
There is no fixed service interval, but as a rule: replace at 100,000–150,000 km or whenever transmission or clutch work is done (labor overlap makes it cheap). Always check the transmission mounts at the same time — they fail together.
